Youth Lagoon Tour Poster |
Leif Podhajsky will always have an almost impossible name to spell and pronounce, but that hasn't stopped hom becoming one of the best artists working amongst musicians today. His work is everywhere these days, from Tame Impala and Foals through to Bonobo and Mount Kimbie. Pictured here is a cool poster he created for Youth Lagoon for one of their upcoming towers. His work is known for its strong use of colour and psychedlic shapes and imagery. He's branching out from his more abstract work these days though, art directing photography for his designs as well as creating quite minimal shape compositions for his recent work for Mount Kimbie. He's a fascinating artist at the top of his field.
Colorplan Rebrand |
Colorplan, for those not aware, is a range premium papers and boards developed by GF Smith. Basically, if your working on a big budget project that involves print, your using Colorplan in your work somewhere. They've recently had a rebrand of sorts, developed by MADE Thought and Colophon. The website and print materials go with it are awesome, and the typeface they're using is very elegant.
At my work placement at Precept, i've been fortunate to look at alot of the promotional material from GF Smith, and i've just recently seen their new Colorplan swatch book, which shows the range of colours, weights and embossings available within the range. You get a sense of the rationale behind the rebrand when you read their write up for the new digital platforms:
"A digital platform has been developed to encourage the user to explore and play with the full palette and versatility of the range; delivering an experience beyond the physical limitations of the swatch book. Primarily designed as a tool to appreciate the papers qualities, colours can be moved freely, juxtaposed, compared, and colour combinations recommended."
The business card pictured above has been created with their technique of 'Paper Marquetry' (no, i've no idea either), with inlays three pieces of board. Which is pretty impressive.
