At the time it was radical, but the principles of it are based around attention to detail, Simplistic precision and refined, inventive lettering. Swiss Style is also famous for creating some of the most famous fonts in the world today such as Helvetica and Univers. These clean easy to read fonts really complement the clean grid orientated style.
My reason for researching this is that my main interests in design are based around minimalism and style over illustration and texture, which is why this design style is of such inspiration and benefit to me.
Swiss Style design also makes great use of grid systems which help to create really balanced designs that are attractive and help to get across the information as clearly as possible. However from my research I have seen that the Swiss Style isn’t just about a strict and serious creation of something which is based solely on accessibility but it can be creative and fun also, for example the ‘Roar’ image.
I want to use my grid systems to show as much artistic flair as possible as the Typographic Circle is all about pushing boundaries and being different, but as my own style is focused on clean lines and refinement, I need to strike the right balance between the two ideas.
